HIQA Reports

Skibbereen Retirement Village take great pride in enhancing the quality of life for those in their Residential Care Centre.
For them, the focus is always on the person, on individuality, privacy, and dignity.

There are many practical ways, big and small, in which they put this philosophy of care into action.

Their Residential Care Centre, for instance, has been designed and built with the needs of their residents in mind, creating a perfect harmony between communal living and privacy.

Their staffing arrangements ensure that each resident gets proper individual care, and their qualified staff are always ready to cater for any special needs, either medical or personal.

Above all, they aim to make sure that the centre is a hive of activity, with plenty of pursuits, from quizzes to concerts and bingo to dancing, arranged on a daily basis.

Skibbereen Residential Care Centre's staff includes 14 fully qualified nurses who, with the help of qualified health care assistants, ensure full round-the-clock care for residents.

The nurses and qualified health care assistants are fully committed to providing the following services to the highest possible standard

Respite / convalescent care
Short, medium and long-term retirement/residential nursing care
Day care

A doctor is always on call in case of emergencies, and weekly doctor rounds are carried out. Residents may, if they wish, continue to use their own doctor.
