Mac Bride Community Nursing Unit is a HSE care facility situated on the banks of the Carrowbeg River in the heart of Westport.

MacBride Community Unit built in 1975.

The McBride Community Nursing Unitl is a single-storey, purpose-built facility.

The accommodation has been reduced from 39 beds to 28 long-term care beds and two respite care beds.

Day care is also provided Monday to Friday for 10 to 15 residents.

Those attending day care share the same communal spaces as long-term and respite residents.

The aim of the unit is to provide care that promotes health and independence, appropriate to each resident personal needs in a comfortable home that respects the dignity of each resident.

There are strong links between the unit and the various voluntary agencies in the locality who contribute greatly to social activities and provide a visiting service for our residents.

The centre is quadrangle in shape with and internal block that contains the large day room and nurses station and there are two enclosed gardens that provide safe accessible outdoor areas for residents.
